Iris Award

Women surround me. As a hairstylist, most of my clients are women. My staff is predominantly women. I am married and 2 out of 4 of my children are women. It is only fitting that my salon would be committed to women’s health issues.

This fall, we decided to shine a teal light on Ovarian Cancer Awareness. We bathed our window in teal light and in partnership with Kiss 108’s Lisa Donavan, aired public service announcements educating women about the symptoms of ovarian cancer and created a Facebook campaign to raise money for Turning the Tide, a Maine retreat for women with ovarian cancer.

The outpouring of support amazed us. So many of our clients had been directly or indirectly touched by the disease. We also received the Iris Award from Senate President, Therese Murray on behalf of the M. Patricia Cronin Foundation to Fight Ovarian Cancer.

Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent” killer because many times there are no symptoms until the disease has progressed to an advanced stage. Beaucage is committed to break the silence and continue to educate women about the symptoms of ovarian cancer.
